Coordinated by IRIS (Spain), in the next 4 years PRESERVE will develop a set of innovative processes and bioproducts as coatings and adhesives, which will foster the circular use of bio-based packaging, contributing to boost the European competitiveness on the sector. At least 10 packaging items will be enhanced, in order to validate the results on a circular economy perspective.
Carbiolice is taking part in the EU funded Horizon 2020 project SISTERS. SISTERS aims to reduce food loss and food waste in the main different stages of the Food Value Chain in Europe through innovations targeted to each link of the value chain: new tools to primary producers for promoting direct and Short Chain sales (farmers); new technological innovations in packaging for processors and retailers; and awareness campaigns for retailers and consumers on food loss and food waste.
With the support of the European Commission, SISTERS will be a key EU project addressing the problem in a holistic way, reducing FLW by 27.4% and CO2 emissions by around 20% in the case studies.
The project started on November 2021, it will last 4 years and gathers 18 partners from 8 different European countries:

CRITT Polymères is a Technology Transfer Centre at the service of companies directly or indirectly concerned by polymers and plastics. CRITT Polymers gives Carbiolice access to complementary pilot equipment in plastics processing, to carry out physico-chemical characterization tests of polymers and to rely on their technical expertise.
The Station Expérimentale Horticole de Bretagne du Sud is an experimentation site dedicated to the fields of biomaterials, organic agriculture, above-ground red fruits and robotics. The site allows Carbiolice to test mulching films, from their application in the field to the monitoring of their disintegration, in real growing conditions.
Organic Waste Systems (OWS) is a world leader in the construction and operation of anaerobic digesters, biopolymer biodegradability testing and waste management consulting. Carbiolice carries out part of its tests at OWS, Independent laboratory recognized by many certification bodies worldwide, to validate that its products meet the standards for domestic composting and soil biodegradation.
